2017 Veterans Brotherhood Blessing of the Bikes - Irondale, Alabama

Written by  June 30, 2017

It was a beautiful day as we got up on Saturday morning April 22, 2017 to head over to the Veterans Brotherhood where they were hosting the “Bond Slaves” annual Blessing of the Bikes.

Everyone needs their bikes anointed, prayed over, and blessed for the upcoming riding season; especially in light of all the accidents in the past. We need all the help we can get, so what better way to kick off the 2017 riding season?

The brotherhood had hotdogs and fixins in the house for lunch, and they also held a 50/50 drawing from which Nathan and Monya Brown took home $75.

After lunch, it was time to get down to the business at hand; the Blessings.

Jeff “Bama” Ritch with the “Bond Slaves” started the Blessings by anointing the heads of the various chapters that were there, praying that God would guide them in leading their chapters safely through the riding season, and saying a prayer for ALL to have a safe riding season. Then it was off to bless the bikes.

We also had a birthday to celebrate, and around the Brotherhood, that can only mean one thing; someone is getting a pie to the face! The next day would be Fritz’s birthday, so after enjoying some good ole home-made Pineapple Upside-Down Cake that I made, as Fritz was headed to his bike to leave, and not even suspecting this, he gets pied from behind, which he never saw coming! What a perfect ending to a great day!

This is always a good, fun, a Blessed gathering of good folks, and a great way to kick off this New Year!

God and Mother Nature held back the rain until everything was said and done; so how is that for being watched over?
