Indian Demo Rides at Indian Motorcycle Kansas City - Olathe, Kansas

Written by  May 30, 2015

On Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Indian Motorcycle Kansas City hosted their 2nd annual Indian demo rides, which enabled Indian motorcycle enthusiast and wannabe Indian riders the opportunity to demo their 2015 line-up.

The Indian Demo Tour semi-truck and trailer was the first thing you noticed when pulling into the parking lot, and next to the trailer was an impressive lineup of every Indian model you could ask for, including the new 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse. This year they also added the popular new Indian Scout, which wasn’t yet available during last year’s Open House and Demo Ride. As long as you had a valid motorcycle endorsement, were at least 18 years old, a DOT helmet, eye protection, long pants, close-toed shoes, all you had to do was sign a waiver, you were good to go.

Our studio photographer Dick Carlson, who is a fellow Indian enthusiast, and member of the local Indian Motorcycle Riders Group had volunteered to help cook food and help with parking that day; however, as it turns out, he wasn’t needed, which enabled him to cover the event from us and take some photos of the day’s activities.

Our March 2015 cover model Jane was also there to enjoy the festivities and test ride the Scouts. After posing on a 2015 Scout for her cover, we could tell she was hooked! Following a short safety briefing, Jane and the other riders mounted up the bike of their choice, secured their helmets, and exited the parking lot for a guided tour along a nice route, so they could get a good feel for how their bike handles. After returning from the demo ride, Jane said "The demo ride well organized, the bikes have original looks, a smooth ride, was a good experience!"

Throughout the day, owner/operator Craig Keating, who was busy visiting with guests and making sure everyone was having a great time. Guests were treated to some great food, and had the opportunity to win some great raffle prizes.

As most of you know, Polaris is responsible for bringing the Indian brand back to life, so the dealership also has a line of Polaris products from which to choose. Dick and I plan to take one of the new 2015 Polaris Slingshot for a test ride this month, and will share a review in our experience in our July 2015 issue. Indian Motorcycle Kansas City also now carries a full line of Triumph motorcycles, so if a Triumph or Indian is in your future, make sure to stop by the dealership to check them out!

A special thanks to Craig Keating and the entire crew at Indian Motorcycle Kansas City for hosting another great event and we can’t way to see what they have in store next!
