Scootin’ America

Written by  February 28, 2015

Adam Sandoval and his Charming Chihuahua Scooter have embarked on a year-long 65,000 mile journey that will take them to every Harley-Davidson dealership in the lower 48. Their journey is on a 1996 Harley-Davidson Electra-Glide. Adam loves his Electra-Glide and says the motor is “bulletproof.”

I met Adam and Scooter at Visalia Harley-Davidson on February 19, 2015. They are in their 4th month of their year-long journey. So far, Adam and Scooter have visited over 190 of the 690 Harley-Davidson dealerships in the U.S.

Adam’s Scootin’ America cause is to assist the American Legion Legacy Scholarship program raise monies for children of fallen military members who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 100% of the proceeds Adam and Scooter collect go directly to the American Legion Legacy Scholarship program.

Adam and Scooter have been doing a lot of tent camping on the journey. If you have extra space available, even a couch, please extend an invitation to Adam and Scooter. You can follow their journey at http://www.scootinamerica.com/aboutus.html and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ScootinAmerica.

You can make a donation to the American Legion Legacy Scholarship or to Adam and Scooter (for their expenses - all of Adam and Scooters expenses are out of pocket) at http://www.scootinamerica.com/donations.html.

Scooter is an amazing animal. Seven years ago, Adam rescued him from a puppy mill before the dogs were taken to the pound. Scooter loves riding on the motorcycle, and Adam had a special crate built for him to ensure he is safe when he rides. Scooter has his own backpack that he hands out in when he’s not on the bike. He really does love hanging out in the backpack!

I apologize for not being able to get any photos of Adam and Scooter’s bike. While I was there, Visalia Harley-Davidson was repairing his faring because the brackets had come loose and needed immediate attention. Visalia Harley-Davidson worked furiously to repair his bike to get him back on the road. Thank You to Geoff Allen, General Manager, and the service crew for getting Adam and Scooter back on the road quickly!

Frances Allen, Visalia Harley-Davidson apparel manager organized a bake sale to help out the Scootin’ America cause. Thank You Frances!

Adam is not a Veteran. He said he’s just a regular guy who wanted to give back. He picked the American Legion Legacy Scholarship program because it helps the children of our fallen military members.

THANK YOU ADAM! You are a True Patriot!
