46th Annual Hanford Vintage Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet - Hanford California

Written by  July 1, 2014

The 46th Annual Hanford Vintage Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet was held at the Hanford, California Fairgrounds on May 17, 2014, and was hosted by Classic Cycle Events. Marshall Baker and his crew put together an awesome venue.

The Show and Swap Meet brought back many fond memories of our youth. As I walked through the event, I overheard many motorcycle enthusiasts sharing the memories that the event brought back. I would not want to be a judge for the bike show, as there were many motorcycles worthy of 1st place. The swap meet vendors had everything under the sun for motorcyclists to rummage through. Motorcyclists were looking for the elusive part to complete their dream build, and there was definitely plenty of gold and rusty gold to be found at the swap meet.

The highlight of the event for me, was meeting Mr. Bill Van Tichelt. Bill owned VanTech in Visalia, California, and is a pioneer in the scrambles and trials motorcycle world. He started out fabricating go-karts, and then started fabricating motorcycles. He eventually teamed up with Grant Products (Grant Steering Wheels), and the partnership took off. The rest is history. Bill’s family is petitioning to get Bill inducted into the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Hall of Fame. Please see the related article in Cycle Connections for information on how you can help get Bill inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame.

Classic Cycle Events next big event is The El Camino Vintage Motorcycle Show on September 20, 2014, in El Camino, California. Go to www.classiccycleevents.com for information.
