Cover Bike & Cover Model Search at Joe's Crab Shack - Olathe, Kansas

Written by  September 1, 2013

Joe’s Crab Shack in Olathe, Kansas was the location for our third cover bike & cover model search of the 2013 riding season, which took place on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, which coincided with their weekly happy hour where every Tuesday evening you can get $2 crawfish tails, popcorn shrimp, fried pickles, Bud Light, Miller Light & Hurricanes between 5-11 p.m.

Stripe, Danny, Eric, Bruce, Randall and Nichole and I arrived early to setup our booth and to block off a section of the parking lot for our cover bike search. As we were signing up bikes, Nichole was busy recruiting girls to participate in our cover model search.

Randall “Sea Hawk” Hauk, our videographer, was busy shooting video for our Cover Bike & Cover Model Search video as the popular local band Loozin’ Sleep played were playing some great music.

By the time we cut off our cover bike and cover model search registration, we had several bikes and young ladies signed up to compete for our cover model search. Once the bike search registration was closed, the judges made their top three choices. Around 6:30 p.m. I used the band’s PA system to introduce the cover model search contestants.

As I introduced each contestant, they made their runway walk across the parking lot and back. The girls posed for a while so the judges could compare notes to make their top selections. The judges handed me their votes for the top cover bike and cover model search entries, and it was time to calculate their votes and announce the winners.

The cover bike search winner of the day was Ted Haase’s 2008 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, and the two cover bike search finalists was Bryan Wood’s 1999 Harley-Davidson Softail Custom and Eric Miller’s 2007 Honda VTX1800. Next, it was time to bring the girl’s back out. Lauren, from Lee’s Summit, Missouri took first place, and Joy and Emily from Olathe, Kansas were the two finalists.

We then had the cover bike winners move their bikes to the middle of the parking lot so we could take photos of them on their bikes. We also shot our three cover model search winners on the three winning bikes. Randall also video-taped the impromptu photo shoot, which is always quite entertaining

We had a great time, and I want to thank Alex and the entire crew at Joe's Crab Shack for hosting our event. I’d also like to thank the bikers who attended the event, as well as the cover bike & cover model search participants who joined in the fun.
