Cover Bike & Cover Model Search at Gail's Harley-Davidson - Grandview, Missouri

Written by  October 1, 2012

Gail’s Harley-Davidson in Grandview, Missouri was the location for our fourth cover bike & cover model search of the year, which took place on Thursday, September 19, 2012, which coincided with their weekly Feel the Power Happy Hour, that includes free wings and beer, a bikini bike wash by the KC Knockouts, and lot of other fun activities.

Stripe, Randall, Nichole and I arrived early to setup our booth and to block off a section of the parking lot for our cover bike search, and before long, Lonnie and Donna arrived. Lonnie immediately started taking photos and helping line up cover bike participants. Donna and Nichole were busy helping recruit cover model participants and taking care of all the paperwork.

As soon as we had everything set up, bikes started rolling in, and we had some lovely ladies register for our cover model search. Randall “Sea Hawk” Hauk, our videographer, busy shooting video for our Cover Bike & Cover Model Search video.

As soon as everyone got off work and hopped on their bike, the parking lot began filling up very quickly. Shaunta’ and her girls were busy washing bikes, and even had a couple nice cars pull up for a carwash. By the time we cut off our cover bike and cover model search registration around 6 p.m., we had several awesome bikes and gorgeous ladies signed up to compete for our cover model search.

As soon as the bike search registration was closed, the judges began the difficult task of narrowing down the bike entries to their top three choices. Around 6:30 p.m. I used the PA system to introduce the cover model search contestants to an overly excited crowd. As I introduced each contestant, they made their runway walk across stage. The girls posed for a while so everyone good get some good photos, and so the judges could compare notes to make their top selections. The judges handed me their votes for the top cover bike and cover model search entries, and it was time to calculate their votes and announce the winners.

The cover bike search winner of the day was Wayne Kozak’s 1927 Harley-Davidson JD, and the two cover bike search finalists were Charles Cook’s 1996 Harley-Davidson Fatboy and Wayne Kozak's 1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Springer (Yes, Wayne let his brother ride one of his other bikes to Gail's that day). Next, it was time to bring the girl’s back out to a cheering and excited crowd. Samantha, from Adrian, Missouri took first place, and Jaclyn from Overland Park, Kansas and Heidi from Belton, Missouri were the two runners-up. We’ll be shooting Samantha on Mark’s bike for our November 2012 cover.

We then had the cover bike winners move their bikes to the side of the dealership so we could take photos of them on their bikes. We also shot our three cover model search winners on the three winning bikes, which drew quite a crowd. Randall also video-taped the impromptu photo shoot, which is always very entertaining

We had a great time, and I want to thank Gail, Dee, John, and the entire crew at Gail’s Harley-Davidson for hosting another great cover bike and cover model search. I’d also like to thank all the bikers who attended the event, as well as the cover bike & cover model search participants who joined in the fun.
