Biker Diva Motorcycle 101 - The Relationship at Shawnee Cycle Plaza - Shawnee, Kansas

Written by  September 1, 2012

On Thursday evening, August 2, 2012, Shawnee Cycle Plaza presented the second of a three part series entitled Biker Diva Motorcycle 101. The free seminars cater towards women riders, and encourage attendees to “Get in touch with your inner Biker Diva!”

If you happened to miss our first article, photos and video of the series entitled Matchmaker – Finding the Right Bike, which was published in our August 2012 issue, you can still check it out.

This evening’s presentation was called “The Relationship – Know your bike from top to bottom and end to end.” Doris Sarver once again greeted guests as they arrived, and invited them to sign up for the free event and to help themselves to the snacks from Italian Delight from Mission, Kansas that were neatly setup on the showroom floor. Guests also received tickets for door prizes and there were free wine samples from Holy-Field Vineyard & Winery from Basehor, Kansas, who had a wine bar setup on the showroom floor.

Biker Diva tank tops were available once again for only $15, with proceeds going to the Susan G Koman Kansas City Race for the Cure, which took place on Sunday, August 12.

When it was time to get things going, Doris Sarver welcomed everyone and gave away some great door prizes, including a tire repair kit, helmet bag, tank map bag, a package of compact cloth towelettes, and a brightly colored hat. Doris then introduced Mike Everhart the service manager, who in turn introduced his entire team from the service department. Mike then invited everyone to follow him to the service department for the presentation. There was a great turnout for the event; however, everyone was able to comfortably fit into the large service area.

Prior to the presentation, a Honda Rebel 250 was placed on a lift, and Mike did an excellent job covering several maintenance and repair topics, including recommended service intervals, tire wear, oil, fluids, chain, clutch and throttle cables, brakes, as well as winterization topics such as battery maintenance and fuel stabilization. Throughout the presentation, Mike encouraged guests to ask questions, which they did, and he addressed them one at a time.

In case you missed the event, or if you’d like a refresher, make sure to check out our Biker Diva Motorcycle 101 – The Relationship video we shot that night, which should help catch you up!

We’re really looking forward to the final seminar on Thursday evening, September 6, which is entitled The Fashion Show - Look the part.

I’d like to once again thank Barry, Doris, Mike, and the entire Shawnee Cycle Plaza crew for their hospitality and for putting on another great event!
