Freedom of Road Riders (FORR) Local 14 Bike Show

Written by  October 31, 2004

Members and friends of the Freedom of the Road Riders (FORR) Local 14 held their 5th Annual Bike Show on Sunday, September 19 at the VFW Memorial Post 3976 in Sugar Creek, Missouri.

On one of the busier Sundays of this motorcycle season, approximately 30 bikes registered in thirteen classes, including a people's choice and a kid's class category.

Attention grabbers for the afternoon ranged from Allen Craig's vintage Honda 350 Four to Bob Cox's dressed out Electra Glide Standard. Cox' Electra Glide featured all of the goodies you would hope to find on a touring bike, along with a set of matching, chrome wheels and rotors from Weld Wheels here in Kansas City. The bike was shadowed by a cargo trailer featuring matching custom paint. Cox chose the classic flame job, with 310 tips according to Cox' count, in honor of his late father and the three generations of racers in his family. Cox took first place in the touring category.

Dragons and wizards and chrome - oh my! These were the inspirations of 'J.B.' Barbarich's custom Heritage Softail, which went on to win the American Custom Cruiser Class as well as the People's Choice Award. Barbarich's custom paint job, a highly-detailed selection of fantasy murals, pulled together custom modifications like a stretched tank, head-high ape-hangers and a 21 inch front wheel.

Show winners were as follows:

American Sportster Stock, Terry Slaten, first place
American Cruiser Stock, Matt Rodriguez, first place, Mike Coleman, second place
US Cruiser Custom, J.B. Barbarich, first place, Bill Nicholson, second place

Rounding out the event were crowd favorites like door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and food prepared by the VFW Hall. Even a local troop of Boy Scouts soaked up the sunshine peddling some of their famous popcorn.
