Paddy O'Quigley's – Bike Night, Done Right!

Written by  May 1, 2004

Paddy O'Quigley's in Lee's Summit, Missouri is without a doubt one of the hottest bike night location in the Kansas City area. On any given Thursday evening, it's not uncommon to see 200-300 bikes lined up in the parking lot.

Why are they such a popular biker hangout? Is it because they block off most of their parking lot for bike-only parking? Is it because of the $2.50 bottled beer, $8.50 pork chop dinners, or $7.95 baby back rib plate? Is it because they grill brats and burgers outside and let you walk around the parking lot with your beer so you can mingle with your fellow riders and drool over each other's bikes? Or maybe, it's all the hot women who seem to flock there every Thursday evening to hang out in the restaurant and party in the nightclub downstairs.

According to manager, Karen Brown, it's all of the above, plus she gives a lot of credit to being in the right place at the right time. Karen told me 'a couple years ago when Mojo's, another very popular bike night location, announced they were closing, we figured all the riders would be looking for a new place to hang their helmets.' She was right!

Hawg Wyld Cycles is a big supporter of bike night activities in the Lee's Summit area, so to get things off on the right foot, she contacted Eric Meyers, and together, they helped relocate all the displaced Mojo's bike night patrons to her place. With a solid foundation of bike night participants, Paddy O'Quigley's was well on it's way to becoming one of the most popular bike night hot spots in the Kansas City area.

On Thursday evening, April 8th, we set up our Cycle Connections booth in the parking lot of Paddy O'Quigley's to mingle with our readers and to give away a few Cycle Connections t-shirts and coozies. We also invited Steve 'Smokey' McGill to park his Anaconda, a 10 passenger Harley-Davidson trike, next to our booth. The Anaconda drew quite a crowd of onlookers, as did Angie Inglima, our February cover page model, who was on hand to greet patrons and help answer questions about our online magazine. Angie seemed to know everyone there, because most of them were customers of hers at Hawg Wyld where she helps them find the perfect part, accessory or motor clothes item. Tom Talley, owner of Hawg Wyld, and the rest of his crew, made a grand entrance on their Swift choppers, and the stage was set for yet another great bike night.

So the next Thursday night you and your buddies are out cruising around, make sure to stop by Paddy O'Quigley's to see what a real bike night is supposed to be like! Paddy O'Quigley's is located at 700 NE Woods Chapel Road, just west of Hwy. 291/Interstate 470 on Wood's Chapel Road in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
