February 2005 Newsletter

Mother Nature has been very kind to us lately, by giving us several unseasonably warm days to get our bikes out and ride. I also noticed that several riders were putting around on Valentine’s Day, which also turned out to be a nice day. For some reason, however, most of the riders I saw that day were riding solo, so I’m guessing they had already taken their significant others out for dinner over the weekend, or they are current members of the Lonely Hearts Riding Club. Either way, it was a great day to get out and ride. If you weren’t able to take advantage of these warm days, don’t fret. I’m sure there will be many more spring-like days ahead to help us through those winter blahs!

If you live in or around the Kansas City area, the Cycles n More Bike Show and ArenaCross was a great way to catch spring fever. This year’s show was bigger and better than ever, and the ArenaCross was a nice addition that gave everyone a chance to see two great shows for the price of one! It was also great being able to meet many of our readers, and we thank you for stopping by our booth and introducing yourselves. Make sure to watch for a full review of this year’s bike show in our March issue.

Upcoming Events:
If you love great blues, drop by Knuckleheads Saloon on Saturday, February 19, for a CD Release Party for Boogie Children, featuring musical performances by Billy Ebeling, Levee Town, Lee McBee, Import Ants and special guest, Fast Johnny Ricker! From 1 p.m. until 1 a.m., these fabulous artists will play 12 hours of great blues; absolutely free! There is no cover and no minimum; however, we encourage you to help out by buying a copy of the Boogie Children CD for only $10, with all proceeds going to Toys for Tots.

The World of Wheels/All American Motorcycle Show will take place Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 13 at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, Missouri. This year’s All American Motorcycle Show is presented by the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Harley Owners Group, so come on down and check out all the great bikes…and cars!

Have you been cooped up in the house so long that you’ve gotten a severe case of cabin fever? If so, you should be ready for a great weekend filled with bikes, parts and parties. On Saturday, April 2, ABATE of Kansas District #5 is sponsoring an Indoor Spring Swap Meet at the Wyandotte County Fairgrounds in Kansas City, Kansas, and later that evening, the Harley-Davidson Employee Rider Association are hosting their 8th Annual Cabin Fever Bash from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. at the Beaumont Club in Westport. There will be lots of great bands, door prizes and munchies; plus there’s no better way of making a complete ass of yourself than by hopping on the mechanical bull. Don’t stay out too late, though, because you’ll need to get your butt up Sunday morning, April 3, and head north to the Kearney Bike Show, which is sponsored by FORR Local #29. All motorcycles are welcome to enter, and there will be multiple classes, with trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There are also door prizes, a kid’s bicycle show, food and refreshments.

On Saturday, April 9, the Easyriders® V-Twin Bike Show Tour ‘05 is returning to Bartle Hall, where you can visit with several master bike builders and see wall-to-wall custom bikes. There will be live music, a motorcycle trade show, and the Purrfect Angelz will take the stage for your viewing pleasure!

There are a lot more great events just around the corner, so make sure to check out our Local Rides, Rallies and Events calendar to see what’s going on. If you know of any local events worth mentioning, feel free to Submit a Rally or Event and we’ll add them to our magazine for FREE!
