11th Annual “Mad Dog” Memorial Ride – Birmingham, Alabama

Written by  October 31, 2017

We woke up Sunday morning, August 13, to an absolutely beautiful day for a ride! That in itself was a pleasant surprise, because this summer’s weather has been like Forest Gump’s box of chocolates.

Everyone gathered at Thunder Inn on Hwy 11 in Birmingham, Alabama, grabbed a bite and a drink, sat around and shot the bull for a while, and then loaded up for a memorial ride over to the cemetery. This was the 11th annual get together for the family and friends of Larry “Mad Dog” Rogers.

We had the customary beer truck to follow, as well as the customary liquor of choice for the toast to “Dog,” and of course…His Shot!

It was nice to hang out with a bunch of awesome folks, and it was also nice seeing “Mama Dog,” Jo, sister Sherri, and brother-in-law Randy/ We really missed them last year.

We are all very thankful to “Dog Pup” Jacob, for keeping his dad alive in our hearts with this annual remembrance ride each year, and to daughter Jenah for joining him and coming all the way from Raleigh, North Carolina. It also does our heart good to see them riding “Mad Dog’s” old Panhead!

After 11 years, we’re still missing our great friend, wonderful dad, thoughtful son, sweet “Love,” and irreplaceable Harley shop parts guy!
