Mark Buzbee Benefit Bike Show – Leeds, Alabama

Written by  August 30, 2017

It only took about six weeks, but on Friday, July 21, 2017, we finally managed to get the benefit bike show for Mark Buzbee won and done!

Cycle Connections has been working with the Central Club in Leeds, Alabama to try and revive the local bike nights, but the rain here in central Alabama has been making that very difficult. All season long the weather has resulted in many bike events being canceled, rescheduled, or having a really crappy turnout.

As part of the new make up for the this year’s bike nights, there was to be the usual line up of vendors, bands, games, and giveaways, but as a twist, there was to be a different food truck each Friday night to feed the masses. Well, the masses haven’t had a chance to show up yet, and we’ve only managed to get a few of the food trucks out between the rains. Cantina on Wheels, came out a few times with some really good Mexican food, X Marks the spot provided some killer burgers, and Tequria Juarez was there with some awesome tacos and tortas!

There was also to be a monthly bike show with a different benefit each month. The first one finally took place Friday, July 21, 2017, which was for Mark Buzbee, a fellow biker and friend who is going through some medical issues with his kidneys. Mark is in need of some love and support during this hard time, so we chose him as the first recipient.

For those who were there and participated, it was a pretty cool little bike show, and the winners were:
- Mike Marsh took home the trophy for the Best Custom.
- Jim Roberts, after some prodding to go back home and get his bike, took home the Antique Trophy.
- The North American Trophy went to our benefactor for the night, Mark Buzbee.
- The Touring Trophy went home with “Dad” Jimmy Buzbee.
- Jerald Spearman went home with the Metric Trophy.
- The Fan Favorite Trophy was determined by whose bike received the most donations. After all, this was a benefit event, so that trophy went home with Jim Osborne.

Thanks to Van, Terry and Mom at the Central Club for hosting the event, and to all the bikers for their support. We would also like to thank “Bama” with the Bond Slaves for your awesome leather work, and to Deb and Patty Anne for your cool jewelry. We also had the return of one of the fan favorite bands, “Sin 69.” Love you guys; and new guys “K.P Motorway” who were awesome!
