Blessing of the Bikes - Birmingham, Alabama

Written by  July 31, 2016

On Saturday, April 23, 2016, the Veterans Brotherhood and chapter “Prez” Charlie, in Birmingham, Alabama played host to the Blessing of the Bikes performed by and benefiting the “Bond Slaves.”

This blessing kicked off the ride season, and got ALL the bikes and riders off on the right foot. The weather couldn’t have been nicer as the bikes continued to roll in that morning.

The crowd was large enough that it filled the whole front yard and started spilling over into the next yard and the street!

The ladies had prepared a really nice layout of food inside, so everyone had plenty to eat and drink as they enjoyed each others company.

Bama lead the prayers for all to have a safe riding season as the guys went around blessing each of the bikes as they anointed them with oil. A sticker was also placed on the bikes to signify that they had indeed been blessed.

Ms. Jessica Shepherd was the proud recipient of the winnings from the 50/50 drawing, which netted her well over $100, which she promptly turned around and donated back to the Bond Slaves, sending them away with around $225 for the day. Not bad, not bad at all!

We all had a great time eating and fellowshipping with a great bunch of folks, and everyone rode off feeling just a little more protected! That just assigned “Guardian Angels” to ALL the bikes to watch over them and help keep them safe for this riding season!

Thanks!
