22nd Annual Vietnam Veterans/Legacy Vets Flags Over the Dam Run – Las Vegas, Nevada

Written by  July 31, 2016

Bikes, Bikes, Bikes! Patriots, Patriots, Patriots! The 22nd Annual Flags Over the Dam Run was held at Hoover Dam on May 29, 20106, and was organized by the Vietnam Veterans/Legacy Vets MC.

More than 2,500 bikers rallied at Hoover Dam for the start of the run. What a sight! Bikes and American flags everywhere, and lots of Veterans were proudly wearing their respective Military Branch’s logos. The long procession started on the Arizona side of Hoover Dam, before making our way to the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. This Bridge is an awesome reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that Pat Tillman gave in service to his country.

As we departed Hoover Dam, inbound traffic was stopped, and cars were backed up all the way to Hwy 95. Most of the inbound cars were honking, waving, taking photos, and videoing the 2+ mile procession of bikes.

The run took us to the State Veterans Cemetery in Henderson, Nevada. Bikers and other patriots filled up a section of the cemetery for a ceremony presented by the Special Forces Association Chapter 51. A ceremony honoring the Special Forces Troops who gave the ultimate sacrifice for The United States of America from 1960 to the present. Each month of the year was recognized, and the number of Special Forces Soldiers who lost their lives for the respective month was given a rose, which was placed at the base of the Special Forces Memorial. Special Thanks to the Nellis AFB Honor Guard for presenting the colors, 21 gun salute, and the playing of Taps.

The Last Stop on the run was Kracker Boxx Bar in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. The meal was catered by Hernandez Taquizas, and their tacos and salsa were delicious! Prizes were raffled off and military stories were exchanged over cold drinks. The “Good Ol” Military Comradery was definitely still intact!

If you see a Vietnam Veterans/Legacy Vets MC Member in the Vegas area, please tell them “THANK YOU!” This run is a HUGE undertaking. President Arrow, his officers, and MC members did a fantastic job organizing the ride.
