5th Annual Lyla Ride - Leeds, Alabama

Written by  June 28, 2016

On Saturday, April 16, 2016, the F.A.I.T.H Riders Motorcycle Ministry of Cedar Grove Baptist Church hosted the 5th Annual Lyla ride.

This was a “marble” run, with all the proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House. The weather held out, as the close to 60 bikes rolled in to register for the ride. It was a nice enough size group that they would all be able to stay together and make an impressive sight as they rolled into each of the stops.

The first stop was at the Veterans home in Pell City, where it’s always nice to see all the Veterans there, and I’m sure they get just as big of a kick out of the visit as the bikers do. Then it was on to the Riverside Baptist Church, Stemly Station, Hepzibaka Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church before heading back to Cedar Grove Baptist Church to end the ride and give away a ton of door prizes during lunch. Darrell Allen was the $100 winner of the marble run.

It’s a wonderful cause that unites all of these folks, but I’m sure the lunch spread that is put together by the wives of the F.A.I.T.H. Riders only helps to bolster the reason for these people to get out and come together. These ladies prepare a spread of food that will make your mouth water just looking at it, which is a big part of the ride that a lot of us look forward to, for sure!

The door prizes each year seem to be endless, as they have so many good people donating all kind of things to this ride. Motion Industries, Truck Pro, Allen Tree Service, Ken’s Cycles, the Waffle House and Rider’s Harley-Davidson are just a sampling of some of those generous folks.

It turned out to be a very fun and eventful day for everyone involved!
