2nd Annual Radar's Run for Fallen Friends - Belton, Missouri

Written by  May 31, 2015

The 2nd Annual Radar's Run for Fallen Friends took place on Sunday May 3, 2015. This annual memorial ride and poker run is a celebration of life in memory of our friend Carl Brent “Radar” Estep, as well as other friends who have passed, with all proceeds going to St Jude’s Research Hospital.

The ride began at 9 a.m. at Slick Willy’s South in Belton, Missouri, with breakfast provided by Chris Cakes Pancakes. Registration was only $20 per rider, and $10 per passenger, which included a poker run card and T-shirt. Extra T-shirts could be purchased for only $10. Poker run prizes included a leather jacket for the high poker hand, $50 for the low poker hand. There was also a silent and live auction, a 50/50 raffle, a live band, and bikini bike wash at the end of the ride.

After drawing your first poker card at Slick Willly’s, the ride continued on, with stops at Iron Eagle Customs in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Knobtown Cycle in Kansas City, Missouri, Bear’s Hiway Classics in Avondale, Missouri, Hardcore Customs in Kansas City, Missouri, and ended at The Landing in Liberty, Missouri.

As usual, by poker hand sucked; however, it didn’t suck for Dave Ponder, who was high hand winner of the leather jacket. Hans Olaysen’s hand sucked as well, but in a good way, because his low hand won the $50 prize. The variety of silent auction items displayed on several tables just outside the entrance was quite impressive. I put a bid in on several items, and ended up winning two Jägermeister buckets as well as a very cool ceramic biker boot vase, which included a $50 FTD flower gift certificate.

After the ride, Pete Zibers, who is one of Radar’s best friends and business partner at Bad Seed Motorcycle Company, sent me some additional information about the ride. According to Pete, there were 73 bikes and 27 passengers on this year’s ride, who raised $2,300 for St Jude’s.

It was a great day to ride for an even greater cause, and we thank everyone who attended this year’s event.

We also want to thank and acknowledge this year’s sponsors, which included Schmitt Mulhern, LLC – Personal Injury Attorneys, The Landing, Bear’s Hiway Classics, Deadeye Choppers, Iron Eagle Customs, Black Seed Motorcycle Company, Ghost Productions 2010, Knobtown Cycle, and Slick Willy’s South Bar & Grill.
