3rd Annual Biker Diva Fashion Show - Shawnee, Kansas

Written by  October 31, 2014

Thursday, October 16, 2014 was a beautiful evening at Shawnee Cycle Plaza for their 3rd Annual Biker Diva Fashion Show, which was evident by all the guests who rode their motorcycles to the event. This free fashion show caters to women riders, and features the latest bier diva fashions.

Just inside the front door, Biker Diva T-shirts were available for only $15, with proceeds going to Susan G Komen and the Breast Cancer Center of St Joseph Medical Center. There was also a very nice spread of snacks, and Monica with Justin's Discount Spirits and Wine Emporium where there offering free wine tasting. Other vendors who were represented that evening included Scentsy Independent Consultant Barb Nelson and Just Jewelry Independent Consultant Linzie Pflumm. There were also tables throughout the showroom loaded with lots of great appetizers and desserts.

The Shawnee Cycle Plaza crew once again magically transformed their showroom into a professional looking runway, complete with sound and lighting. Doris Sarver greeted guests as they arrived, and once it was time to get everything going, she introduced everyone to their new sales manager Paul McMinn, who told everyone about some of the specials they had going on. Doris also introduced her guests to Kevin Christensen with Tucker Rocky, who talked about the Roland Sands products everyone would be seeing that evening. Doris then introduced special guest and MC for the evening Gary Amble, who is a fellow motorcyclist, long-time Shawnee Cycle Plaza customer, and Senior Meteorologist at KCTV5. Gary welcomed everyone, talked a little about the great weather that evening, which he laughingly took credit for.

Gary then went on to introduce the models as they came out one at a time to do their runway walk and showcase all the latest fashions. Tonight’s models were Suzanne, Missy, Carrie, Jess, Tracie, Colleen, Kathy, Tani, Debbie, Lauren, and Debbie, who did a great job showcasing all the latest fashions. The girls also modeled the various Biker Diva T-shirts that were for sale that evening, with proceeds going to Susan G Komen. Toward the end of the fashion show, Doris also introduced Kali, the youngest model in show, as she modeled the children’s Girls Rule tank top along with a green skirt and matching green polka dot teddy bear. How cute!

Doris then talked for a while about breast cancer, including some very interesting statistics and facts. She also told a tear-jerking story about a good friend of hers who was a true inspiration, before sadly losing her fight with this disease. Doris then introduced everyone to a gentleman by the name of Bjorn Nilson, who is a breast cancer cure advocate. As Bjorn walked around the stage with his large pink breast cancer purse, he talked about his wife’s fight against breast cancer, and how it affected him and his loved ones. Bjorn’s speech was tearful, humorous, and very inspirational. Doris then had some of the kids distribute breast cancer donation cards throughout the crowd as she introduced everyone to each of the evening’s models as they came back on stage one more time for a group photo.

Doris once again thanked Kevin Christensen and Gary Amble for all their help, and gave a shout out to all the vendors who were there, as well as Christy Sheehan, who was the makeup artist that did an awesome job on all the makeup for the models that evening. Doris also thanked finance manager Hal for providing the music, as well as the entire Shawnee Cycle Plaza staff for all their hard work to make the evening’s presentation possible.

As always, we had a blast covering the event, and had an opportunity to meet some really great people. I’d like to once again thank Barry, Doris, and the entire Shawnee Cycle Plaza crew for their hospitality and for putting on another great event!

In closing, if you missed this wonderful event, or if you’d just like to take another look at the evening’s fashions, make sure to check out the Biker Diva Fashion Show video below.
