Blues, Booze and Bar “B” Que - Kansas City, Missouri

Written by  September 30, 2014

The 1st Annual Blues, Booze and Bar “B” Que took place from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday September 6, 2014 at the Ararat Shrine Temple in Kansas City, Missouri, which is located at 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64129. This festive event was a fundraiser for the Ararat Shriners General Fund, and for only $25, you were treated to a delicious menu that included brisket, turkey, pulled pork, sausage, BBQ beans, slaw, and corn on the cob. Beer, soft drinks, tea and water were included, and there was a cash bar for those wished to enjoy a mixed drink.

The weather was perfect, so I chose to ride my bobber that evening. Guests were also encouraged to bring their bikes, rat rods, hot rods, hot cars, classic cars, scooters and mopeds! A few guests rode their motorcycles, and there were also several nice vehicles in the parking lot. Several very large canopies were setup in the courtyard outside the shrine, and a large buffet table was positioned next to the building, along with the beer and mixed drink stands.

A live band entertained the crowd, as several guests made their way to the dance floor throughout the evening. At one point during the evening, Kevin “Brodee” Broderick also provided some entertainment as he flew his drone around the courtyard to create a video recording of the event. As Brodee operated the drone using his cell phone, a large crowd gathered to watch the screen and encourage him to buzz a few of the guests and get some up close and personal video of guests and member.

If you like to help kids, you’re encouraged to join the shrine. This is a wonderful organization that you really need to check out.
