Scout's First Run - Olathe, Kansas

Written by  September 30, 2014

On Thursday, September 18, 2014, from 2-6 p.m., Indian Motorcycle Kansas City invited Indian motorcycle enthusiast and tire kickers back to their dealership once again for an event entitled Scout’s First Run. When Stripe and I pulled into the dealership, the first thing that caught your eye, was a shiny black Indian SUV attached to a shiny red trailer with an image of a red Indian Scout on the sides, and huge lettering on the back and sides that read “INTRODUCING THE 2015 INDIAN SCOUT - NOTHING ELSE.” As you can see in the photo below, the image of the rider on the Scout was so realistic it scared Stripe as he was standing next to it. We figured if the new bikes were half as eye-catching as the trailer, it was going to be a fun event…we were not disappointed!

As you may recall, back on Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16, Indian Motorcycle Kansas City held their grand opening and demo rides event, which had a tremendous turnout. This time, guests were given the opportunity to sit on, drool over, and even start one of the two new 2015 Indian Scouts that were prominently displayed on the showroom floor. On one side of the showroom sat the 2015 Indian® Scout™ in Black Smoke (i.e. flat black), and on the other end was the 2015 Indian® Scout™ in Indian Red (very classic). Two additional colors, Silver Smoke and Thunder Black (gloss black) are also available, which are equally beautiful. You can click here to see all four colors and check out the specs.

Upon entering the dealership, owner/operator Craig Keating and his friendly sales staff were busy showing off the bikes to a huge crowd of guests. Everyone wanted a chance to sit on the bikes, take photos, and get a close look at all the details of these beautiful works of art. While waiting our turn to take photos and drool over them ourselves, we had the opportunity to visit with Suzy from GMR Marketing, who we found out was the driver of the vehicle out front with the Indian trailer attached. We also discovered that she had the awesome job of hauling and displaying these two Indian Scouts all over the Midwest so people could check them out. What a job! Suzy also informed us that customer who purchased a Scout no later than Friday, September 19, 2014 (the next day) were guaranteed to receive their bike by the end of December. Talk about a great Christmas present! Plus, if you reserved your Scout now, you would also receive some limited time offers including an industry leading 5 years of coverage and a special commemorative Owner’s Kit.

And if you were feeling lucky, guests were also invited to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a new Scout motorcycle and receive a free Scout item, which I think were these nifty gold Indian pins I saw laying around. Stripe twisted my arm, so I filled out an entry. There was also an entry box for your chance to win a $50 Indian Motorcycle gift card, and if you're feeling really lucky, you can also enter the “Score a New Indian Motorcycle” promotion by Indian Motorcycle Kansas City and 101 The Fox. For this promotion, you get a chance to predict the final score of the Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers game on 12/28/2014, in which two lucky finalists will be selected – if either predicts correctly, will score a new $19,000 Indian motorcycle. If the bike they’re giving away is the one on the banner and signage next to the entry form table (see photo below), it looks like a 2015 Indian® Chief® Classic in Indian Red, which is very similar to Dick Carlson’s beautiful blue 2014 Indian® Chief® Classic that is featured on our September 2014 cover. I don’t know, but if I were you, I’d get my butt into the dealership now, guess the final score, and try to win one of these beautiful bikes!

Several of the guests seemed to be stopping by on their lunch hour, so being the perfect hosts, Craig and crew had a large cooler full of bottled water and soft drinks sitting on the showroom floor. We also snagged a couple pieces of candy that was sitting on the sweepstakes entry table. While talking with some of the other guests, Stripe came across a couple who had both decided to order bikes that day. They were incredibly excited, and kept moving from one Scout to the other. They even started one of them up, and it sounded great!

As most of you know, Polaris is responsible for bringing the Indian brand back to life, so the dealership also has a line of Polaris products from which to choose. As I also mentioned in my grand opening/demo ride article, I really can’t wait to check out the new 2015 Polaris Slingshot when they arrive. If you haven’t seen photos or video of this exciting new 3-wheeled machine, make sure to check it out now! It would make a great addition to your list of toys, and would look amazing sitting in the driveway next to your new Indian Scout! Hint, hint!

A special thanks to Craig Keating and the entire crew at Indian Motorcycle Kansas City for hosting another great event and we can’t wait to see what they have going on next!
