Cover Bike & Cover Model Search at Gail's Harley-Davidson - Grandview, Missouri

Written by  August 1, 2014

Gail’s Harley-Davidson in Grandview, Missouri was the location for our first cover bike & cover model search of the season, which took place on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Our event coincided with their weekly Feel the Power Happy Hour that includes free food and beer, and lots of other fun activities.

Stripe, Nichole, Lonnie, Randall, and I arrived early to setup our booth and to block off a section of the parking lot for our cover bike search, and before we had everything setup, several bikes had already started arriving and entering our cover bike search. Nichole was also busy signing up girls for our cover model search.

Representatives from Schmitt Mulhern, LLC; Kansas City's premier injury attorney were on-hand to visit with guests and hand out business cards, and Chuck Nasty with 101 The Fox setup his sound system next to us, and played some great classic music throughout the evening.

Throughout the afternoon, more bikes kept rolling in, and before long, the parking lot was filling up as was our cover bike search staging area. Mark and Wayne Kozak showed up on a couple really nice bikes, and Randall “Sea Hawk” Hauk, our videographer, was busy shooting video for our Cover Bike & Cover Model Search video (see below).

By the time we cut off our cover bike and cover model search registration, we had several awesome bikes signed up, as well as some very beautiful ladies. Once the bike search registration was closed, the judges began the difficult task of narrowing down the bike entries to their top three choices. Around 6:30 p.m. I used Chuck Nasty’s PA system to introduce the cover model search contestants to the crowd. As I introduced each contestant, they made their runway walk across the stage. The girls made sure to pose for a while so everyone good get some good photos, and so the judges could compare notes to make their top selections. The judges handed me their votes for the top cover bike and cover model search entries, and it was time to calculate their votes and announce the winners.

The cover bike search winner of the day was Mark Kozak’s 2009 Harley-Davidson Road King, which made the cover of our August 2014 issue. The 1st runner up was John Bullard’s 2001 Cal Custom Terminator and the 2nd Runner up with Wayne Kozak’s 1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Springer. Next, it was time to bring the girl’s back out and announce the winner. Amber from Raytown, Missouri took first place, and Jessica from Greenwood, Missouri and Allison from Raytown, Missouri were the two finalists.

We then had the cover bike winners move their bikes to the side of the dealership so we could take photos of them on their bikes. We also shot our three cover model search winners on the three winning bikes, which drew quite a crowd. Randall also video-taped the impromptu photo shoot, which as you can see in the video, was quite entertaining

We had a great time, and I want to thank Gail, Dee, and the entire crew at Gail’s Harley-Davidson for hosting another great cover bike and cover model search. I’d also like to thank all the bikers who attended the event, as well as the cover bike & cover model search participants who joined in the fun.
