Biker BBQ for Autism – Exeter, California

Written by  April 1, 2014

March 16, 2014 turned out to be an awesome day! A Biker BBQ for Autism was held at 4K Bar Ranch in Exeter, California.

Diane Tanner organized the event. She coordinated this in conjunction with Visalia Harley-Davidson’s Run for Autism on April 6, 2014. Diane said that she wanted to do “more” to help people out with Autism. She started making phone calls, and the BBQ was set.

Many people donated items for the silent auction. A cake walk was held. Lauryn Tanner, owner of Haute Dolls Bake Shop in Exeter, California, donated several awesome looking and awesome tasting cakes and cupcakes for the cake walk. Relay races were held for the kids for the kids; however, a couple bikers got “suckered” into participating. One biker refused to jump rope! He will remain unnamed, mainly because the writer likes his nose where it is!

Valley Cycle Association (VCA) helped host the event. Members from 5 Diamonds MC, Kinfolk MC, Central Valley Riders MC, Ninety-Nine Saints MC, and Screamin’ Demons MC showed up to support the cause. The turnout was much larger than expected and was greatly appreciated. The event raised over $1,100!

Mr. Beryl Allison, former wood shop teacher at Exeter High School, made it to the event. He has recovered from a serious accident that occurred in September 2013. Many of his former students were at the event and were glad to see that he had recovered. He especially loved the hugs from all the ladies!

As always, thank you to Mr. Dennis Kelly for the use of the 4K Bar Facilities for this Great Event!

Don’t forget the Run for Autism on 6 April at Visalia Harley-Davidson, 30681 Highway 99 Visalia, CA 93291. Registration starts at 7:45 a.m., with kickstands up at 9 a.m. The run starts and stops at Visalia Harley-Davidson, and is only $10 per person. This will also be a Poker Run!
