Cover Bike & Cover Model Search 2012 at The Bar - Lee's Summit, Missouri

Written by  July 1, 2012

The Bar in Lee’s Summit, Missouri was the location for our second cover bike & cover model search of the riding season, which took place on Saturday, July 23, 2012.

Stripe, Lonnie, and Donna were out of town attending the Sparks America Rally in Oklahoma that weekend, and Danny had his bike torn apart putting a new wheel on the front, so Nichole recruited a few friends to help out for the day.

Wally was there when we arrived, and our friends Brenda and her husband Terry showed up early, and were a big help in setting up our booth and blocking off a section of the parking lot for our cover bike search. Alana, our June 2012 cover model was also there to sign covers and help recruit cover bike search participants and to sign up girls for our cover model search. Our friend Katrina also showed up and helped work the event!

There were several vendors setting up in the parking lot, including BikeWorks Unlimited, Wood Crafts, and Biker Bling Jewelry.

As soon as we had everything set up, bikes started rolling in, and throughout the afternoon, several beautiful ladies registered for our cover model search, and Randall “Sea Hawk” Hauk, our videographer, was there shooting video for our Cover Bike & Cover Model Search video .

The parking lot was filling up quickly, which kept everyone busy getting all the cover bikes search contestants line up and getting everyone signed in. By the time we cut off our cover bike and cover model search registration around 6 p.m., we had several awesome bikes and 10 attractive ladies signed up to compete for our cover model search.

As soon as the bike search registration was cut off, the judges began the difficult task of narrowing down the bike entries to their top three choices. Around 6:30 p.m. I used the DJs PA system to introduce the cover model search contestants to an overly excited crowd. As I introduced each contestant, they made their runway across the parking lot and back in front of the cover bike entries. The girls also posed for a while so everyone good get some good photos, and so the judges could compare notes to make their top three selections. The judges handed me their votes for the top cover bike and cover model search entries, and it was time to calculate their votes and announce the winners.

Once all the votes were tallied, the cover bike search winner was Robert Vasquez’s 2003 Custom Buell, and the two cover bike search finalists were Jesse Vasquez’s 2003 Boar Chopper (belonging to Robert’s son) and Ted Haase’s 2006 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe.

After announcing the cover bike search winners, it was time to bring the girls back out one more time and announce the winners of our cover model search. Nicole, from Lee’s Summit, Missouri took first place, and Brooke and Faith, who are also both from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, were the two runners-up. We’ll be shooting Nicole on Robert’s bike for our September 2012 cover.

We then had the owners of the winning bikes move their motorcycles into the main area of the parking lot so we could take photos of the winners on the bikes. We also shot our three cover model search winners on the winning bikes. A crowd gathered as we took photos, and everyone enjoyed the show by pulling out their camera and phones to get a few shots.

The event was a blast, and I want to thank Rick, Dana, and the entire crew at The Bar for hosting another great cover bike and cover model search. If you missed this event, and even if you didn’t, don’t fret. Rich and Dana will be hosting another Cover Bike & Cover Model Search on Saturday, August 25, 2012.

I’d also like to thank all the guests who attended the event, as well as the cover bike & cover model search participants who joined in the fun.
