6th Annual Gailapalooza and Spring Fashion Show at Gail's Harley-Davidson

Written by  April 30, 2012

Last year, Gailapalooza took place on a glorious day at the end of a dismal winter season. For 2012, the situation was reversed. Winter in the Midwest had been one of the mildest in recent memory, but the weather on April 7 was cool, damp, and generally unpleasant. In spite of the weather, lots of motorcycle enthusiasts turned out at Gail’s Harley-Davidson in Grandview, Missouri, to check out the bikes and merchandise inside the dealership as well as the numerous vendor booths that filled the parking lot out front. In addition to the vendors, several charities had booths where they had the opportunity to promote upcoming fundraising events. Some of the people who attended were lucky enough to be selected to enter the 101 The Fox Cash Cube and snatch flying currency of various denominations out of a whirlwind of money.

The Jeremy Nichols Band provided musical entertainment for the event. The ride-in bike show winners were Leonard Filley in the non-Harley class and Ted Haase in the Harley class. Ted’s sweet 2006 Softail Deluxe was featured as the Cycle Connections January 2012 cover bike. To supplement the motorcycles on display, the South 71 Cruisers brought some fine classic cars to show off.

Every year, Gail makes sure there are Gailapalooza attractions specifically for the entertainment of the youngsters in attendance. This year, children enjoyed a balloon artist who provided them with colorful balloon animals and other shapes. The stilt walker was also a big hit with kids and adults alike. He even had a change of costumes, changing from Uncle Sam to a K.U. basketball player. Missouri Tiger fans in attendance were probably not so thrilled about the second costume.

The weather steadily improved throughout the day, and by afternoon more people were arriving on motorcycles rather than in automobiles. It was an enjoyable event for all who attended.

A few days later on April 18, Gail’s Harley-Davidson hosted another annual event, the Spring Fashion Show. The latest in Harley-Davidson fashions were featured, and the models were dealership employees and their children. Gail teamed up with Slacker from 101 The Fox to emcee the show. Dee Austin coordinated the show that had a distinctly country flavor, kicking off with the tune Red Solo Cup. One number was a tribute to America’s military men and women and honored veterans who are employed at Gail’s. Their introductions included the branch of the military in which each served. During another number, the employees appeared with their children, focusing on the dealership’s family emphasis. In addition to viewing the latest fashions from Harley-Davidson Motorclothes, everyone enjoyed great hors d'oeuvres and beverages. The weather was much better for this event, and many who were in attendance had arrived on their motorcycles.
