Show Me Bike Show 2012 - Sedalia, Missouri

Written by  February 29, 2012

For over 10 years, the Sedalia Motorcycle Association has put on a motorcycle show in late January or early February. On February 1, 2011, a major winter blizzard dumped nearly two feet of snow on Sedalia, a community of about 21,000 residents about 80 miles east of Kansas City. That really put a damper on last year’s Show Me Bike Show. Fortunately, the weather for the 2012 show was very good, and the Ag Building at the Missouri State Fairgrounds was filled with show bikes, vendors, and motorcycle enthusiasts.

The February 4, one-day show began with registration from 9:00 a.m. until noon. This year there were 18 classes for American and metric bikes and trikes, stock and custom, modern and antique, special interest, and pro. There was also a cash award in one randomly selected class. The entry fee was a very reasonable $10 per motorcycle.

The doors were opened to the public at 1:00 p.m., and the admission charge was only $5. Food and beverages were also very affordable. In addition to viewing some great show bikes, those who attended had access to a swap meet and several vendors. Wrist bands allowed people to come and go conveniently.

The evening’s live musical entertainment was performed by 2 Buck Drunk beginning at 7 p.m. At 8 p.m., awards were handed out to all the class winners with the Best in Show award, voted on by the exhibitors, going to Mark Concienno from Oak Grove, Missouri, with a fine custom Harley Shovelhead. Emcee for the presentation was Jeff Arnwine, and Rick Yeager handed out the plaques and trophy. The program concluded with a couple of raffle drawings. Bikes were then moved out of the way to make room for dancing as 2 Buck Drunk reclaimed the stage. Exhibitors who preferred not to load up that evening were able to leave their bikes overnight in a secure area and move them out on Sunday morning.

Congrats to the Sedalia Motorcycle Association for another great show. Thanks to the sponsors for the show: Stone Laser Imaging, Central Missouri Harley Owners Group, John Schwenk Independent Insurance Agent, Real Estate Brokers of Missouri, Taylor Crop Insurance, Thomas Indep. Plumbing, Ray’s Auto, Kust M Thunder, Sedalia Starter & Alternator, Freedom of Road Riders Local 33, End Zone, Arnwine Construction, Chez When, Yeager’s Cycle, Independent Cycle, Ol’ School, Arnwine Electric, Arnwine Music Productions, and Full Circle Motorcycle Association.
