2011 Cycle Connections End of Season Bike Show – Birmingham, Alabama

Written by  November 30, 2011

Halloween weekend saw a lot of parties going on around Birmingham, but it also marked the end of the 2011 bike night season.

On Saturday, Cycle Connections and the Thunder Inn on Hwy. 11 in Trussville, Alabama, where every night is bike night, sponsored and hosted an end of season bike show, with trophies from Quality Trophies in Trussville.

We had everyone participate in the judging of the classes, and the winner of the Fan Favorite trophy was determined by which bike got the most beads put on it from the fans.

Dan Rawlings’ old Pan Head was the winner of the fan favorite as well as his class, “Awesome Antique.” Dan’s Pan Head is named “Baby,” and later he was overheard telling someone that Baby must have been outside flashing a bunch of folks because she was covered in beads; too funny!

Robert Vasser won his first trophy ever with his red chopper in the “Coolest Custom” class; Joe Mays, after being prodded to enter the show, rode out of there with the “Metric” trophy, and Luke McKelroy took home the “Hottest Harley” award.

After the bike show, owners Freda and Monty had planned a big party complete with a big pot of homemade Gumbo, so very good! Monty’s band, “Tres Homeboys” supplied the tunes.

It was a fun bike show. Thanks to everyone for coming, and congratulations to the winners. Thanks to Thunder Inn, and thanks to all the bikers for a great 2011 bike night season. We look forward to doing it all over again next year.
