Cover Bike & Cover Model Search at Rawhide Harley-Davidson - Olathe, Kansas

Written by  October 31, 2011

Rawhide Harley-Davidson in Olathe, Kansas was the location for our ninth and final cover bike & cover model search of the year, which took place during their bike night on Thursday, September 15, 2011.

Lonnie, Donna, Stripe, Wally and I arrived early to setup our booth and to block off a section of the parking lot for our cover bike search, just in time before all the bikes started rolling in. Blake with Prodigal Son Coating also showed up, and parked his truck near the entrance to the parking lot so he could promote his powder coating business in Oak Grove, Missouri.

Randall “Sea Hawk” Hauk, our videographer, was out of town that evening, so Stripe and I shot some video for our Cover Bike & Cover Model Search video on You Tube! Danny also showed up to help out, and cover model Jennifer soon arrived to help work the crowd and recruit cover bike and cover model search contestants.

As the evening went on, the parking lot filled up quickly, which kept us busy getting all the cover bikes search contestants line up and getting everyone signed in. Although it was a somewhat chilly evening, we had several beautiful cover model search contestants sign up, and 11 bike owners lined up their rides in front of our booth for the cover bike search portion of the event.

The band Last Chance Flight entertained the crowd, and our good friends with the Bikers for Babies® Ride also had their large pre-registration tent setup to promote this year’s ride. Two bikers also took advantage of the burnout pit in the parking lot, and shredded their rear tires to the cheer of the rubber-hungry crowd.

As soon as we the cover bike registration was cutoff at 8 p.m., the judges began the difficult task of looking over all the bikes and coming up with their top three picks. I then used the band’s sound system to introduce the cover model search contestants to an excited crowd. I introduced each contestant as they made their runway walk in front of the band area. The girls posed for a while so everyone good get some good photos, and so the judges could compare notes to pick their top three choices. The judges handed me their votes for the top cover bike and cover model search entries, and it was time to announce the winners.

The two cover bike search finalists were Jack Dunn & His 2006 Harley-Davidson Street Glide and David Collins & His 2012 Harley-Davidson Road Glide, and the winner of our cover bike search was Paul West & His 2000 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Classic.

After announcing the cover bike winners, we brought the girls back out one more time and announce the winners of our cover model search. Stephanie from Edwardsville, Kansas and Savannah, from Bonner Springs, Kansas were the runners up, and Alana from Overland Park, Kansas was the lucky winner!.

We’ll be shooting Alana on Paul’s bike for an upcoming cover, and we had the owners of the winning bikes move their motorcycles into a lighted area of the parking lot so Lonnie could take photos of them on the bikes. He also shot our three cover model search winners on the three winning bikes.

The event was a blast, and I want to thank the entire crew at Rawhide Harley-Davidson for hosting our cover bike and cover model search! I would also like to thank all the guests who attended the event, as well as the cover bike & cover model search participants who joined in the fun, and congratulate to our cover bike and cover model search finalists and winners, who are featured in this month’s issue.
