Peanut West Bar Owner Charged with Deliberately Running over Motorcyclist

Written by  June 29, 2007

What the hell's this world coming to when the owner of a supposedly biker-friendly establishment deliberately chases down and runs over one of his bike night patrons with his truck? Sounds pretty bizarre, doesn't it; but that's exactly what happened on Thursday evening, July 26 at Peanut West, which is located at 13223 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Shawnee, Kansas.

According to witnesses, two motorcyclists were doing burnouts in the parking lot, when bar owner Charles Tabor went outside and started yelling at them to stop. The bikers said 'OK,' got off their bikes and went inside the bar. Soon afterwards the bikers decided to leave, but not before exhibiting one last final crack of the throttle as they sped away.

That's when things went from bad to worse, as Tabor ran out of the bar, jumped in his truck, and 'peeled out' after them. After catching up the two riders down, Tabor allegedly ran over one of the riders and dragged his bike beneath it.

To be honest, I didn't even know there was a Peanut West, let alone a bike night there, so I guess it goes without saying I do not plan on visiting anytime soon and I suggest all motorcyclists and non-psycho-bar-owner patrons stop frequenting this establishment as well.
