Holiday Gift Guide for Dudes and Divas

Written by  November 30, 2004

Can you believe we are coming to the close of another riding season? Where did the time go? Hopefully, it flew by while you were taking trips to see the beauty of our land from the seat of your ride. I ventured out to Tulsa, OK for the blues festival, Sturgis, SD for the rally, Red Lodge, MT to ride the Beartooth pass, Springfield, MO for the state HOG rally, Fayetteville, AK for their rally and New Orleans, LA for the Steel Pony Express rally. And then of course there were the weekend jaunts to Rulo, NB for a catfish lunch, Jamesport, MO to visit the quaint Amish storekeepers, Lawrence, KS, Lexington, MO and the Ozarks also offered great riding day trips. The memories, friendships and beautiful scenic highways and byways are what riding is all about. We can’t seem to get enough of it, then old man winter sets in and we find ourselves sitting by a cozy fireplace versus heading out for a bike night.

The winter months give you a chance to think about all the after-market parts you would like to add to your bike, and conjurs up images of Santa with his sleigh loaded down with all those chrome parts and accessories. Or maybe some new leathers or a set of saddlebags filled with all sorts of biker goodies.

If you’re having a hard time coming up with ideas for that special motorcycle dude or diva on your list, here’s a list of great gift ideas to help get you started.

Many of your local dealerships and bike shops carry the following items, and if you happen to live in the Kansas City area, we’ve listed several of our advertisers down the right side of this page for your shopping convenience.

If you’re looking for something different, there is a new product we talked about a few months ago called the Signal Sorcerer, which trips traffic signals. It sells for $19.99, so check it out!

I would like to thank Cecil Omstead for his suggestion from my October article on “scuffed up boots.” He recommended we wrap Velcro on the shifter. It sticks to anything, it’s cheap, and easy to replace.

Also, our editor, Mike Schweder, shared this web site that sells a product called Scuff Skins, which protects our shifter boot and sell for $8 each.

Before I got involved with riding, shopping was my first love so I want to share some web sites especially for you lady riders, which might help give you some ideas for your Christmas wish list!

Tip of the month: Store your motorcycle in a low-traffic area so no one will trip on it, tip it over, drop a tool on it or dent it.
