Diana & Robert’s Biker Wedding – Birmingham, Alabama

Diana & Roberts Biker Wedding
Well, it was time to put our wedding planner hat back on. Diana Doss has been part the Bike Nights that we sponsor for the past several years, so I couldn’t say no when asked to help with the planning of her wedding to Robert Burchfield.

We were doing another 13th date, but this one at least wasn’t on a Friday; it was Saturday, December 13, 2008. We were also working with a very short plan-and-execute timeframe. I think it was maybe three weeks, but I think, and I think most everyone agreed, that it turned out beautiful.

It was set at the Birmingham Race Course, but this one was inside, as it was a little too cold to have it outside. The band “Latest Rumor” was set to play inside at Club Quincy for that night, and we all liked them from the bike nights they’ve played, so Diana thought it would be nice to have the wedding take place right before the band was set to play, then everyone could stay and listen to the band afterward. Pretty shrewd planning! The Race Course enjoyed having everyone staying, eating and drinking afterward.

The last couple’s wedding that we did, Donna and Craig, came out to do the sound for the wedding, which was perfect! Diana and her matron of honor, Mechelle McCluskey, as well as Mechelle’s mom set up their staging area in the restroom, which is huge and has a side area when you first come in that has a wall-to-wall counter with mirror, add a couple of chairs, grab a few beers and you’re set, right?

The guys brought in the floating walls to put outside the door to help hide them all. Craig started things off with “Here” by Rascal Flatts, then “Ave Maria” by Celine. That gave us time to get everyone in place and ready to go. Next came “You’re the One” by Clannad as Mechelle started out in front of the bride, dressed in her pretty long black skirt, carrying the oh so cute bouquet of red rose buds surrounded by yellow buds and baby’s breath, with a little golden rod with red berries in the center.

Diana’s friend Bob Johnson gave her away, so he escorted her in, dressed in a pretty black dress, and carrying a red rosebud bouquet with one yellow bud with a little golden rod with red berries in the center, surrounded with baby’s breath, and each of the roses had little pearl pins in the center of them. The groom, Robert Burchfield, along with his best man, Greg Pridmore and our “biker” Reverend, J.R. Kennedy, were already in place at the archway. All the guys had yellow rose boutonnieres on their biker attire, except for the groom; his was red. Diana asked for J.R after hearing him before, she liked the way he incorporated the Harleys somehow into the service, which he did for them as well, it was cute!

During the ceremony “When She Loves You” by Emerson Hart played softly in the back, and after they were pronounced husband and wife, “Everyday” by Rascal Flatts played. After a short period of time with people hugging and whatnot, we got the couple out on the dance floor for their first dance to “I’m Your Angel” by Celine. Then everyone was invited to share a dance with the couple to “their” song “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You.”

A friend of Diana’s made the cake for her, which consisted of one small cake on the top holding the special made cake topper with the guy and girl and a motorcycle, which by the way, Leigh loved, it was a V-Rod! The rest of the tiers were made up with cup cakes, with black icing! Her colors were black and silver. The black made for some really funky looking mouths, but it was well worth it, and it went away after a while. The cake was really very beautiful as well as very tasty! We added a few little decorations to the table, but left it the focal point.

On another table we had some champagne punch and some munchies, and their glasses that I did for them that I had etched the Harley emblem on and added their names and date. We put her Honeymoon box and bubbles on another table, then had one long table set up and decorated for them next to the dance floor. Since we set everything up in the lounge area of Club Quincy where there are several couches and tables, it made for a real cozy area to decorate with candles and beautiful centerpieces. Best man Greg had donated several bottles of champagne, a few of which went into the punch, the rest went into glasses for toasts.

While they all enjoyed the music, I slipped out and went over to their hotel room where I put her bouquet in a glass of water, set it on the table with a small bottle of wine and some Hershey’s kisses, wrapped in pink and silver. Kisses were placed all around the room, bathroom and bed, and we added a few sexy surprises on the pillows, provided by Amanda’s Treasures. Also put a bag of cinnamon pinecones on the top of the entertainment center, lit a cinnamon candle next to the bed, and a coconut candle in the bathroom. It smelled so good! It was all so beautiful; we wish them a lifetime of happiness and great sex! Thanks Leigh, for all of your help and for putting up with us!
