Lorri Weller

Lorri Weller
On September 2, 2008 Lorri Weller, a mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and avid rider was in a fatal motorcycle accident. She was a young 49 years and rode a Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob. Lorri worked at the Harley-Davidson Plant as a mechanic for 10 years. She joined the Khrome Cowgirls in February of this year and warmed her way into our hearts and souls. Live to Ride and Ride to Live was her way of life.

It is never easy to hear about the loss of someone...especially when that someone is part of the Khrome Cowgirl Family. The Khrome Cowgirls Chapter of Women in the Wind is a very special community of strong, independent women, who come from all walks of life and share the same passion for the freedom of the road. Lorrie Weller joined our club and found peace. At a time in her life in which she had experienced a loss, she was able to feel like she belonged to a group that cared about her and made her feel whole. Lorrie was definitely a woman rider and loved to travel on her Harley-Davidson Street Bob whether it was just back and forth to work, on trips over the weekends, or to participate in many of our Khrome Cowgirl rides.

I will never forget seeing her pull up for the Frigid Bitch Ride on that cold winter day….she had ridden all the way from Lone Jack, Missouri and was bundled from head to toe with a smile from ear to ear. Since that date she was an active member and was proud to say she belonged to our group.

As most of you know, we are in the planning stages for our upcoming Nationals and Lorrie has been a big help in the planning for the events on Friday, June 19th, 2009. Lorrie found out that the Harley Plant offers Open Houses to organizations throughout the country and was my go-between, between the club and the Harley Plant. Because of her involvement, the Harley Plant will be sponsoring a WITW Day for us next year, which was huge to her. She worked on the Dyna Line and was very excited to get this ball rolling.

Please keep Lorrie and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Remember her with smiles and know that she has gone to that Great Open Road in the Sky.
