2nd Annual ABRF Duck Run & Dice Roll - Warsaw, Missouri

Carl and Patty Busse and the entire American Bikers Relief Fund (ABRF) crew had been planning and pre-registering riders for several months in anticipation of another great charity ride to help fellow bikers in need. The ABRF crew were also busy selling little rubber ducks with the intent of dumping them in the lake at the end of the run, and whoever's lucky duck crossed the finish line first would win $500 cash. Riders were also invited to paint and decorate their ducks for the best decorated duck contest, which was a hoot…or should I say a quack?

Once everyone had registered and rolled their first pair of dice at Gail's, Carl fired up his bike and led everyone to the second stop at Fathead and Braindeads Saloon. From there, it was on to the Branding Iron BBQ in Harrisonville for dice roll stop number three. After grabbing a bite to eat and a couple of drinks we hit the highway once again to the fourth stop at Fat Boy's in Garden City. Fat Boy's is very unique bar that is attached to a gun shop. Nothing like beer and bullets! By this time everyone was ready for a few drinks, so after rolling their dice and taking turns dancing on the stripper pole in the corner of the bar, it was time to move on to Big Dan's Farmer's Inn in Lincoln. After a few more drinks it was on to the final stop at The Old Oarhouse Inn in Warsaw, which was also the location of the huge post ride party complete with great food and a live band. This year's band was Sugar Bush, who played a great variety of music, which had everyone dancing the entire evening.

Once everyone completed their final roll and turned in their dice roll sheets, the ABRF crew totaled up everyone's rolls and announced the winners. Nicole Hendricks was the winner of the high roll with a total of 52, which, for those of you who failed math in school, means that she averaged more than 10 per roll. She rode away $100 richer, and the low roll winner was my buddy J.O. who rolled a staggering 18. Yes, that's an average of just under 4 per roll. Way to suck J.O., but at least he came away with an extra $50 in his pocket.

Next was the judging for the best decorated duck. There were some awesome and very creative entries; however, Nancy Noland's punked out pink Cycle Connections Chick took 1st place, Nichole William's Disco Ducks complete with a dance floor and mirrored ball took 2nd place, and Rhonda Langley's Biker Ducks came in 3rd. After the best decorated duck contest was over everyone's ducks were tossed in a big plastic barrel and hauled down to the dock for the big race. The ducks were then loaded into a boat, taken upstream, and dumped in. The ducks slowly made their way toward the finish line as everyone cheered on their quacker, but in the end, Robert Estenbaum's fast-swimming duck was victorious, which made his owner $500 richer. Kelly Terril won the 50/50 drawing and Rhonda Langley took home a new pocket watch.
