We run into Rosie and her husband, Rick, almost everywhere we go. They are very active in the local biker community and you can always count on them to participate in the various charity rides in and around the Kansas City area. Rosie also happens to be related to Margaret, our copy editor and columnist. Small world, huh?
CC: What is your occupation, Rosie?
Rosie: I’m an office manager.
CC: Do you have any hobbies other than motorcycling?
Rosie: I enjoy swimming, crafts and scrap booking.
CC: How long have you been riding?
Rosie: I started riding as a kid. My Dad owned the Yamaha Shop in North Kansas City, Missouri in the late 60s & 70s.
CC: What was your first bike?
Rosie: My first bike was a 1972 Yamaha 70cc dirt bike. Then I got to move up to a 100cc enduro.
CC: How many bikes have you owned?
Rosie: I’ve owned a total of four bikes.
CC: How many bikes do you currently own?
Rosie: Two.
CC: What is your current primary bike?
Rosie: My current bike is a mild custom 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 800.
CC: What do you like most about your Vulcan?
Rosie: I guess I like the color and the matching seat with the flame stitching. It also has lots of chrome.
CC: What is your dream bike?
Rosie: I really don’t have a dream bike right now. I’m very happy with this bike.
CC: What would you say is your most memorable riding experience?
Rosie: Last summer a group of the Khrome Cowgirls riding club I belong to went to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for the weekend. It started raining right after we got there and rained the whole weekend. We had a blast at the Iron Horse Stables where we stayed. We did a lot of parting and not much riding.
CC: Do you belong to any motorcycle clubs or organizations?
Rosie: Yes, I belong the KC Chapter of Women in the Wind. Our chapter is called the Khrome Cowgirls of Kansas City.
CC: Which motorcycle rallies & events have you attended and which is your favorite?
Rosie: The Cowgirls do a lot of the local charity rides. I don’t really have a favorite. Last summer we went to Sturgis for the first time. That was really awesome. We did a lot great riding and the scenery was beautiful. I can’t wait to go back and see what we didn’t have time to see last year.
CC: Which is your favorite bike night location?
Rosie: We go to the Landing in Liberty a lot. It’s close to home and Dan’s Cycles in Liberty does a great job of sponsoring it.
CC: Do you have any tattoos?
Rosie: I don’t have any tattoos at this time. I’m still looking for the one that will have a special meaning to it. It’s going to be there forever you know!
CC: Do you prefer riding in a group or by yourself?
Rosie: I like riding in groups and the Cowgirls are always doing something different and fun. We do costume rides, cold rides, pajama rides etc. it’s always a fun time with those girls.
CC: Who are some of your closest riding buddies?
Rosie: My closest riding buddy would have to be my husband of 27 years, Rick. And he loves to ride with those Cowgirls too.
