Rob Sansonetti and His 2001 Custom Harley-Davidson Road King

Rob Sansonetti
Our May 2010 cover bike is owned by Rob Sansonetti from Kansas City, Missouri. Rob's custom Road King earned this month's cover by taking first place at our Cycle Connections Cover Bike Search on Saturday, April 3, at Fathead & Braindeads Saloon in Grandview, Missouri.

During our photo shoot I asked Rob if I could also interview him for this month's Readers and Their Rides article and he was more than happy to agree to my request.

CC: Rob, what is your occupation?
Rob: I work in probation and parole.

CC: Do you have hobbies other than motorcycling?
Rob: Yes. I enjoy songwriting, canoeing, swimming, writing and art.

CC: Why do you ride?
Rob: My dad always had bikes around when I was a kid, and I guess I caught the bug.

CC: How long have you been riding?
Rob: Riding since I was a kid...driving since 2002.

CC: What was your first bike?
Rob: A 2002 Harley-Davidson Sportster.

CC: How many bikes have you owned?
Rob: Including my wife's new Nightster, we have owned four.

CC: How many bikes do you currently own?
Rob: We currently own two bikes. My 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King, and my wife's Harley-Davidson 2009 Nightster.

CC: What do you like most about your Road King?
Rob: The paint and the power.

CC: What is your most memorable riding experience?
Rob: Riding my first bike home from the dealership. I damned near killed myself!

CC: Do you have a least memorable riding experience?
Rob: All the riding I missed while my motor was being rebuilt last year!

CC: What motorcycle rallies and events have you attended, and which is your favorite?
Rob: Too many to list, but I did have a blast at the 2nd and final Weasel Wobble.

CC: Do you have a favorite bike night hangout?
Rob: Kearney is close and I see lots of bikes there.

CC:Tell me about your tattoos.
Rob: I have four tattoos. I would love to be sleeved, but who has that kind of money to burn?

CC:Who is your favorite tattoo artist?
Rob: Frank Frazetta has always been my favorite. His art is so amazing!

CC: Do you prefer riding in a group or by yourself?
Rob: I like group rides. I lived in northern California at a campground, and the rumble of large groups of bikes just does something for me

CC: Who are some of your closest riding buddies?
Rob: I need some...anyone wanna ride?

CC:Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Rob:I ride this bike. It is pretty, but it was not really purchased to be a show bike. I don't spend hours detailing it. Guys that do that waste time better spent riding.

CC: Thanks for the interview Rob, and congratulations again on winning our May 2010 cover bike search!
