I remember a time, not so long ago, when the monthly H.O.G. Chapter meetings were about the extent of the social gatherings at the local dealerships. Although the dealerships have always done a great job sponsoring charity rides and events, if you wanted to have a beer, hang out with your riding buddies, and listen to some live music, you had to saddle up and head to the bar.
Well, no more! The dealerships in KC have taken socializing to a whole new level, by hosting their own bike nights, and Worth Harley-Davidson is no exception. As a matter of fact, they’ve raised the bar even higher, by constructing a new Events Center in their parking lot. This new venue includes a large covered stage, a concession area, and huge shade sails that provide some much needed relief from the hot summer sun.
Toss in a few beer tents, a food vendor, and a bikini bike wash put on by several beautiful women, better known as the Worth Girls, and you have the makings for one of Kansas City’s biggest and best bike nights. That’s right; every Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m., Worth Harley-Davidson pulls out all the stops by bringing in some of Kansas City’s best local bands to help create a fun and exciting rally-type environment.
On Thursday, June 21, Bruce Stimpson, our studio photographer and I decided to ride up to Worth and check it out for ourselves. As we pulled into the parking lot, I was amazed at how packed the parking lot was. I mean, there had to be at least a few hundred people there. Charlie & the Stingrays were jamming on stage, with several couples shaking their booties on the dance floor. There was also a line of “dirty” bikes waiting for the bikini-clad Worth Girls to work their magic. As soon as we got off our bikes, we ran into Sammi, who is one of the Worth Girls, and just happens to be our July 2012 cover model. She was busy selling beer next to the bike wash area, and we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity for an ice cold beverage.
As we walked around the parking lot, I kept running into people I knew, and it seemed like everyone was there that night. When we walked inside, the showroom was swarming with shoppers, and the Worth crew was busy greeting guests and helping them find that perfect item they just couldn’t live without. We had a blast, and after a couple hours, we decided it was time to mount up and head home.
