We called and e-mailed a bunch of our Bike Night buddies and told them to meet us at the Birmingham Race Course to hang out and listen to one of our Bike Night bands, “Sin 69,” who had been booked to play at Club Quincy’s inside the Race Course. Bennie booked several of our better bands to play inside during the winter months, and we like to see that they are playing to a nice size crowd. It’s not hard to do since they come with their own little group of “groupies,” and that’s enough people to get the party started. Then Kevin and Billy e-mail and call people and distribute fliers. The fliers by the way, I am proud to say, include a group shot of the band in front of Leigh’s V-Rod, which I took; I love it! We all had a good time, got to hang out with some good people, and listen to some sick tunes.
“4th And One” along with “Sin 69,” will be back at the track at least once a month outside playing for us during the 2010 bike night season. “4th And One also have their “groupies” as well as a group that will be just about anywhere they are playing. They are another one of our party bands, and Tony, like Kevin, like to get out in the crowd with the people; they go out of their way to involve the people around them. They’re nuts like the rest of us, so naturally, it works! And did I mention that all of these guys ROCK the HOUSE. The music is as big as their hearts! The “Jeff Galey” band will also be making their return to the bikers this year, and we are hoping to have “Handshake Promise” thrown in the mix as well.
Our vendors, Good-Girlz Bad Girlz Biker Apparel, Amanda’s Exotic Treasures, Engine Specialties, Precision Lighting, and Inspirational Jewelry will be back in our vendor alley. We are looking to bring a few more in to add to the mix. The $1.50 All Domestic Beer Special will be back. It really never left, and you can come into the race track, bet on the dogs, bet on the horses, watch any of your favorite sports events, pig out on the variety of food, and enjoy $1.50 beers---year-round!
We are also bringing back the games that we all love to watch: the “Weenie Bite Contest,” ‘Twister,” and “Blind Fold Musical Chairs” (too funny!).
To these we are planning to add “all (mini-not ridden-toy) Harley Drag races,” some Stripper Pole Dancing 101, some Bikini Contests, and maybe a few surprises.
The 4th annual Breath of Life Ride, benefiting the UAB Lung Health Center, is scheduled for Saturday July 24, 2010, and the 4th annual “Cruisin for St. Jude” weekend fundraiser is scheduled for September 3-5, 2010. Both are Cycle Connection sponsored fundraisers hosted/sponsored by the Birmingham Race Course.
The 2010 Hawg’s & Dawg’s Bike Night season is scheduled to kick off the first Friday in April 2010---We hope to see you there!
We have a new Bike Night this year; it will be another OUTSIDE bike night, on Saturday night, beginning Saturday March the 20, 2010 at Overtime Bar & Grill out on Lakeshore Drive.
This means that we also have another all adult location---YEA!!!!
These guys, Blake and Paul seem like they might be a lot of fun to work with. Blake comes with his own motorcycle background, he used to work for Big #1 motorsports, and so he is familiar with the bikers. They are going to have $2.00 Miller High Life-$2.50 Miller Lite, and 50 cent wings, and I think they are going to have a band out there with us. Some of the vendors like Coyote Coating will likely be over there from time to time, along with some new bikes from Rider’s & Heart of Dixie Harley Davidson, Victory Suzuki Warehouse, and maybe we can get a couple of Hondas out from Custom Performance/ Pelham Power sports, and one or two Confederates-Amy, hint, hint!
I think we will probably be giving away some cool stuff, playing some cool games, and generally having a good ole time out at this new location, so we better see you out there too!
We will probably have some tickets from Barber’s Motorsports to give away at both locations, and will have some Red Bull “stuff’, hopefully some of their race team, some of the Miller lite girls and fun stuff like that to do and see. We are trying to pull together some really good things for the bikers this year, so since it is all done with YOU in mind, hopefully you will choose to spend your weekends partying with us.
Please have a fun, safe 2010 ride season, and maybe we will see you along the way.
