Fathead & Braindead? Well, according to Mom aka “Pug” her two sons, Truman aka “Fathead” and Todd aka “Braindead,” were a handful growing up. And like most brothers, they developed cute nicknames for each other – and well, they just kind of stuck. Like chocolate and ketchup? But once you meet your hosts you’ll see they are anything but.
Good food, Good times, and Family are the three key elements here. And between the comfort food and warm hospitality, it’s no wonder this place has taken off. From the orange and black interior to the Harley wallpaper in the bathrooms you’ll feel right at home. And of course ALL bikers are welcome here.
Large picture windows all across the front of the building let you sit and watch your ride and everybody else’s while kicking back with a friend and a brew. And since we’re in Grandview, Missouri you can still smoke in the bar. Or step out on the patio and smoke while you play a couple of games of horseshoes.
For entertainment F&B has two pool tables and four electronic dart machines and in keeping with the times there’s even an “Internet Jukebox” that will play just about any song you’d want to hear. “Free” Wi-Fi internet access is also available for those who need to stay connected making this one high-tech saloon! There’s also a separate banquet area, Karaoke every Thursday/Friday and Live Music every Saturday. And we haven’t even started talking about the Grand Opening.
The Grand Opening Party is scheduled to kick-start on May 10 at 10 a.m. and last ‘til 1 a.m. rain or shine. Unique vendors and bike builders from all over state will be here. Look for Pure Evil Choppers from St. Louis, Bears Hiway Classics and Gail’s Harley-Davidson just to name a few. Listen to live music all day and night from five hot local bands: Big Fat Delicious, The Relics, BadWire and The Outtakes. All are slated to perform on the outdoor stage with Uncle Jam rockin’ the indoor stage at 10 p.m. Tons of prizes, giveaways, and contests will be held throughout the day. You can even do a good deed or two by helping out the March of Dimes and the American Bikers Relief Fund while you’re enjoying the party.
The Main Attraction at F&B’s Grand Opening is the World Premier Opening of the David Mann “Biker Visions and More” Gallery. Featuring never seen before artwork, sketch books, different pieces of inspiration, and props. This permanent installation of artwork is exclusive to the gallery and is the only one of its kind in the world! This legendary artist’s work continues to live thru his wife’s Jacquie vision in sharing his art with the world.
There will be a formal gallery dedication at 3 p.m. followed by Jacquie Mann signing autographs, answering questions and talking about David’s biker lifestyle that spans more years than most of us still riding. The gallery will rotate different pieces of David’s work as they become available on a published schedule so there will almost always be something new.
Another attraction is the barn-wood covered wall behind the stage that displays a combined effort by two more local artisans. The King of Heavy Metal Sculpture “Stretch” and Master Paint Guru Chris Cofield of CC Custom Graphics mixed American Steel and radical paint in a unique rendition of the Fathead & Braindeads logo.
This new biker destination has plenty of other events on the horizon. Like Wednesday Bike Nights that offers all front–row bike parking plus food & drink specials. But if you feel like being incognito there’s always plenty of parking round back. Then on selected Sundays starting this summer, come hang out with us for Smokin BBQ and Blues Jams. Bring your instrument of choice or just come and listen to local blues bands and enjoy some killer BBQ right out of the smoker. There’s always something going on at F & B’s so keep watching for calendar updates with listings of bands, rides and gallery events at www.fatheadandbraindeads.com.
