We have been very fortunate here in Alabama, in that we have had a very mild winter so that we have had very little “down” time, as far as riding goes. Of course Leigh didn’t see it as a mild winter because it got cold here and there, and he hates the cold! But we saw no snow, no ice, and there weren’t too many times that it stayed cold for more than a few days in a row. So, it was a mild winter. It did make it hard on those who use the winter to take their bikes apart and add things and so forth. No one wanted their bikes down for very long because we kept getting nice days and were able to ride.

However, when April 6 rolled around and it was time to start the bike nights, it got pretty damn cold. We even got several phone calls the next day telling us that it had started snowing shortly after we left! Everyone was so ready to get back out and see people and their bikes that it didn’t matter too much that our first night would be down in the 40s.
